KHAA AA-LOO-LAA KHISH-CHAA-NAA,
one dark (ill-lighted) block,
CHMA BET-WAATEH WA TAA-MAA .
many houses were there .
CHOO-LEH BET-WAATEH TEE-QEH ,
all old houses,
TAA-RAA-NEH CHOO-PEH EE-QEH .
the doors low and narrow .
IT-WAA LIT-WAA KHAA SHWO-TAA .
there was and there wasn't (just a saying) one nieghbor .

on daughter of an old mother . -old woman-
CHAA-ZAAKH WAA L' MAAD-RAA-SAA ,
we went to school together,
AAKH-TEN JAA-WIH PERR-DE-SAA .
it seemed like i was in paridise .
QAA YI-MAN CHEE AAL-DAAKH WA,
we fooled our mothers,
MIN BE-TAA CHEE PUL-TAAKH WA.
we used to leave the house.
SHI-NEH MAAKH TdE-RRAA PRIKH-LOON ,
years flew like a bird ,
TOOR-WAAN MAAD-RAA-SAA PRIQ-LOON.
together (us) we finished school.
KHAACH-MAA NIKH-RAA-YEH TEE-LOON,
some non-Assyrians came,
JOO BE-TAA D SHWE-TAAN SHWEE-LOON.
in my nieghbors house they sat.
SHMEE-LEE SHWO-TAAN TdLEE-BAA-LOON.
i heard my nieghbor asked for there hand (in marriage)
MIN AA-LOO-LAA LOOB-LAA-LOON.
from the block, they took her away.
CHOOL AA-LOO-LAA KHA DOON-YEH ,
all the block in one (my) world ,
MIL-YAA RRAA-BAA TOOKH-ROON-YEH .
filled with many memories .

our block, so small and narrow ,
BET SHWO-TEE RRAA-BAA SPEE-QAA .
how empty is my neighbors house.
