VehiCross Redo
I
had my Vehicross repaired and repainted at Maaco on 4722 West Harrison
Street/Chicago. They were awesome. They fixed all my deep
keyed scars and scratches and dents. He told me to fix all of the
dents since they are more visable with a new paint job, but I thought
that since the car was a dozen years old, I could
be a little cheap. The problem is, the car looks almost brand new
and on a new paint job, the dents show up even more. But it was
only a few that I left. He also showed me thousands of different
colors and
over a hundred that was a citrus green/yellow that I was looking for.
I finally chose this color and and am very happy. Next door at
the car wash/alarm shop, they put in new tinted windows. Now I
have
no desire to buy a new car. I get so many complements, like those
I used to get 10 years ago, but since then, have stopped. They
freek when I tell them that it is a 1999 vehicle and 180k miles.
Painted in Oct 2011.
Before and after using the 3M headlight restorer
Before
and after using the restoration dye. I used the Mercedes red
which was perfect. MB268 and Mercedes black. Does not wipe off.

Used Forever Black
to dye exterior and plastic dashboard. Inside looks new.
You can no longer use the automatic brushes at car washes.
It will last much longer. Like every 9 months. I also dyed the hood insert. Painting it didn't really work.
Used
a WheelSkin cover. Like $50, but worth it. The VX version
they have does not match. I had to return it. You need
black. Dyed all black plastic.
I used paper towels for exterior and for the interior, I used a 1" foam brush.
Replaced
that terrible fabric with leather. There is a dry cleaner's /
alterations shop ("My Cleaners" on 1741 W. Chicago st. They did
such a great job. I paid like $80 or $90. Well worth it.
